Photoshop Express BETA is Launched!
March 29th, 2008
Just recently, Adobe release Photoshop Express BETA, it’s free online version of Photoshop. You can try it out at http://www.photoshop.com/express. Just make sure that you have the latest version of Flash and that you have JavaScript enabled or you will likely encounter problems.
Of course, this online version is very different than the offline version of Photoshop, and if you’re expecting an online clone of Photoshop, you’ll find yourself lost and disappointed. Not only is the layout very different, a lot of things have different names in Photoshop Express. Some of the basic features of Photoshop are missing like selections and layers, however, it has some great tools like cropping, color correction, and filters. In fact, some things like rotating an image and color corrections are faster and easier than in the standard version of Photoshop, if you’re willing to sacrifice some precision.
One of the main things that makes this online version great, is that you can integrate it with your Facebook, Picasa, or Photobucket account. So if all you need to do to you pictures is things like fix saturation, exposure, or red eye, this is a great tool. Also you can make a gallery with up to 2gb of images that you can show off to the world.
Keep in mind that this is only in BETA, so don’t be surprised if it doesn’t seem perfect yet. There is also talk that there will be a premium edition of Photoshop Express later for those who want more features. So check it out and let others know what you think about it in the comments. Did I mention that it’s free?
